Parliament to be Prorogued

Date: August 22, 2013

The Prime Minister has announced that he will ask the Governor General to prorogue Parliament until October 2013. Parliament was previously set to resume sitting on September 16, 2013.

Items relating to Private Members’ business are automatically reinstated. This would include Bill C-279, An Act to amend the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Criminal Code (gender identity and gender expression) and Bill C-377, An Act to amend the Income Tax Act (requirements for labour organizations.
