Ashlee Common quoted in Law Times on Changes to Rules of Civil Procedure
Law Times quoted Hicks Morley’s Ashlee Common in a January 12, 2021 article titled “Changes to Rules of Civil Procedure will save paper, time and money, say lawyers”.
The Ontario government has filed regulatory amendments to the Rules of Civil Procedure (Rules) which come into effect on January 1, 2021. Many of the amendments update the Rules to provide for virtual proceedings and electronic processes.
As noted in the article, the rule changes provide that, aside from originating processes, documents can be served via email, without need for a court order or the other parties’ consent.
