Stephanie Kalinowski Mentioned in Benefits and Pensions Monitor on Changes to the New Employment Insurance Waiting Period

Hicks Morley’s Stephanie Kalinowski was mentioned in the January 20, 2017 Benefits and Pensions Monitor Daily News Alert titled “Employers Should Look At EI Change Effects Now.” The alert summarizes Stephanie’s presentation during the Advantage session,  The Future is Now: Pensions & Benefits Remastered, which was presented on January 18th. During the session, Stephanie said that with the shorter waiting period applying to all types of EI benefits starting January 1, 2017, employers should review their SUB, top-up, and STD/LTD plans now to determine whether the plan wording aligns with certain conditions that need to be met. Stephanie also urged employers to be proactive in developing bargaining, plan design, and member communications now, before “you have a pregnant employee at the door who needs answers.”
