Biography
Andrew Easto is a pensions, benefits and compensation lawyer in Hicks Morley’s Toronto office. He provides advice and guidance to employers and plan administrators navigating the regulatory, transactional and governance landscape of pension plans, group benefits and incentive compensation.
Andrew advises private sector and broader public sector employers, including school boards, municipalities and government agencies, regarding a broad spectrum of compensation-related issues. He has assisted clients in resolving complex payroll administration issues, such as the correction of pension contribution errors or complying with competing garnishment obligations. Andrew has helped institutions in the broader public sector understand their reporting obligations under the Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act—commonly known as the Sunshine List. He has assisted clients with pensions and benefits plan design changes, conversions and consolidations arising in the contexts of corporate reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, and restructurings.
Andrew earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto, where he was the co-chair of the Tax Law Society and an editor of Law Follies. He also served on the Peer Membership Program Executive Committee. Andrew received the Goodmans Prize and the McRuer Scholarship for attaining the highest grade in administrative law. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in history with minors in English and human geography. Prior to joining Hicks Morley, Andrew articled and worked in-house at a large public school board.
