Overview
Today’s educational environment has become increasingly challenging with a wide diversity of student needs educators and education professionals must accommodate. To ensure the rights and safety of all students and staff are not compromised, it is critical for education professionals and advocates to have a comprehensive and updated understanding of special education law.
This program was developed by legal and educational experts to provide a practical, up-to-date understanding of the most pertinent legal challenges in special education law.
In a session titled “Health & Safety 101,” Sean Reginio will discuss school board obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and associated implications under the Ontario Human Rights Code as well as the impact of the OHSA on special education students, teachers and other educational workers.
Sean regularly advises and represents school boards with respect to OHSA obligations, student disciplinary matters, human rights issues, the role of identification, placement and review committees (IPRCs) in student accommodation, and instances of potential discrimination. Contact Sean to learn more about the impact of the OHSA in special education and for support with the day-to-day legal challenges in education and special education.
