Zachary Demers

Zachary Demers is a labour and employment lawyer in Hicks Morley’s Toronto office. He is building a practice that includes providing advice and representation to employers on a wide range of issues such as grievance arbitrations, labour disputes, wrongful and constructive dismissals, employment standards and human rights.

Zachary received his Juris Doctor from Western University. Zachary was an oralist on Western Law’s 2022 Jessup team, which placed third at Canadian rounds and eighth in the world at international rounds. The team’s oralists were provided various individual awards, including Zachary’s sixth-ranked Canadian oralist award, and the team’s pleadings were ranked first in Canada and eleventh in the world. Zachary later acted as a student coach on the Western Law Jessup team for the 2023 competition. He also served as the deputy editor-in-chief of the Western Journal of Legal Studies.

Zachary articled at the firm before returning as an associate in 2024. Outside of his practice, he can be found exercising, playing or listening to music, reading, or dining at one of Toronto’s many restaurants.
