Biography
Ashvini Giridaran is a student at Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. Prior to law school, she received her Honours Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Toronto, focusing on cultural studies.
Throughout her time in university, Ashvini presented at numerous research conferences, developing a keen interest in the intersection of human rights, cultural pluralism, and the role of the rule of law. Ashvini cultivated also a deep passion for advocacy. She is an avid mooter, having competed in eleven undergraduate competitions across Canada and in the United States, and earning twelve awards. In her first year at Osgoode, she won the Khalra Cup mooting competition, placed in various internal moots, and represented the school at the 2026 Cassels Cup “Baby Gale” Moot.
Outside of her moot involvement at Osgoode, Ashvini is a peer mentor to high school students through the LAWS program. She has volunteered with the school’s Restorative Justice Project and is also an executive on Osgoode’s CLF chapter.
In her spare time, she enjoys running and reading novels.
