Shawn Yuan

Summer Student, Queen's

Biography

Shawn Yuan is a current second year JD student at Queen’s University, Faculty of Law. Prior to Queen’s, he received his Bachelor of Arts in Law and Society at York University, graduating with summa cum laude.

During law school, Shawn has focused on labour and employment law and was the runner-up in the Hicks Morley Labour and Employment Moot of 2025. He was also the oralist for Queens in the National Labour Arbitration Competition. He has also worked as a research assistant for Queen’s OpenJustice AI lab, where he conducted legal research and collaborated with technical teams to address AI-related legal issues. He is the event coordinator of the Labour and Employment Law Club and Advocacy Executive of the Outlaw Club. He is currently volunteers for PBSC for their tenant right project and he’s a volunteer academic tutor for 1L students.

Outside of work, Shawn enjoys watching sci-fi tv shows and movies, travelling and finding local food, and trying to finish Elden Ring.
