Courtney March

Associate, Ottawa

  • Biography

Courtney March is an employment lawyer practising out of Hicks Morley’s Ottawa office. She works with employers and HR leaders who are navigating complex workplace issues and want clear, practical advice they can act on with confidence.

Courtney advises on all aspects of the employment relationship, including terminations, discipline, accommodations, workplace investigations, human rights, health and safety, privacy, and employment standards. She regularly assists employers with employment agreements, workplace policies, and employee handbooks, and represents clients in wrongful dismissal litigation, human rights complaints, and labour disputes.

Clients value Courtney’s direct, plain-English approach and her ability to bring calm and clarity to high-stakes situations. She focuses on helping employers identify and manage risk early, make defensible decisions, and move forward decisively—often before issues escalate into disputes or litigation.

Before joining Hicks Morley, Courtney practised general civil litigation, employment and labour law, defamation, police law, and administrative law. That broad advocacy background informs her practical, solutions-oriented employment practice and her role as a trusted advisor to clients facing difficult workplace challenges.

Outside of her practice, Courtney can be found spending time with her dog, Mabel, cycling, going to concerts and exploring new restaurants. She also serves on the board for a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing supportive housing and community-based services for individuals living with mental illness and other complex needs.
