Successfully represented a public health board in a judicial review application relating to disclosure of personal information that was held to be in the public interest under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act before the Ontario Divisional Court and Ontario Court of Appeal.
Successfully moved for summary judgment on a financial institution’s counter-claim regarding repayment of an outstanding loan in a wrongful dismissal action.
Represented a number of school boards in a judicial review before the Divisional Court relating to obtaining employee information held at another government institution in order to pursue litigation in the U.S.
Successfully represented an intervenor at the Supreme Court of Canada in the leading workplace privacy case – R v Cole.
Successfully represented a recruitment solutions company at trial in defending an action for wrongful dismissal.
Successfully brought a motion for summary judgement and obtained judgment in an action against a former employee who committed fraud against a college.
Regularly defend public and private sector employers in civil actions for wrongful dismissal.
Successfully argued that an employer’s use of personal data in a legal proceeding was not a breach of existing privacy law.
On behalf of universities, successfully defended wrongful dismissal and constructive dismissal claims by senior administration alleging harassment and systemic discrimination.
