John Field Mentioned in The Lawyers Weekly
Hicks Morley’s John Field was mentioned in the March 1, 2013 edition of The Lawyers Weekly in an article entitled, “Case shows individual nature of constructive dismissal”. The article discusses the Ontario Divisional Court’s decision in Kafka V. Allstate Insurance Co. of Canada where the Divisional Court unanimously upheld the Class Proceedings Judge’s decision which dismissed the Plaintiffs’ motion for certification of a proposed class action alleging constructive dismissal of a group of former agents of Allstate. The Plaintiffs’ motion for leave to appeal from the Divisional Court’s unanimous decision was dismissed by the Court of Appeal for Ontario on August 29, 2012. John acted as counsel for Allstate on its successful resistance of the proposed class action in Ontario.
