Julia Nanos Quoted in Canadian Lawyer Magazine on the Effect New Pay and Scheduling Laws Have on Retailers and Restaurants
Canadian Lawyer Magazine quoted Hicks Morley’s Julia Nanos in a July 3, 2018 article titled “Retailers Squeezed by New Rules.”
The article discusses how some of the new laws implemented in Ontario, such as calculations for holiday pay and equal pay for equal work are affecting restaurants and retailers. “Those who already paid all employees the same, regardless of employment status, won’t have to adjust too much. For others, the equal pay for equal work requirement is significant. Still, there isn’t ‘any uniform pattern in how it affects any particular employer'” Julia says. “Employers should carefully examine leaves they already provide to see if what they give employees is equal to or greater than what the government requires now” she added.
