Marketing and Business Development Specialist

The firm is seeking a Marketing and Business Development Specialist to join our Knowledge Management and Business Development Department. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized, results-oriented self-starter with a strong client service mentality and an extremely high attention to detail. Reporting to the Business Development Manager, the individual will be primarily responsible for coordinating marketing and business development initiatives, including events and assisting with legal directory submissions, and requests for proposals.


  • Leading the planning and execution of client seminars and special events including the development of strategy and mailing lists, material coordination, logistics and follow-up, working in partnership with the Knowledge Management team, event specialist and the lawyers
  • Overseeing the department’s annual marketing calendar, including the firm’s events schedule
  • Assisting with the coordination of the firm’s submissions and updates to legal directories and listings
  • Providing back-up support on request for proposal responses
  • Monitoring requests for assistance and fulfilling requests or triaging the request to the appropriate member of the marketing team
  • Coordinating the new hire process, including the obtaining lawyer bios and arranging photo shoots
  • Improving current marketing processes and suggesting tools for optimal efficiency and effectiveness
  • Reconciling the department’s accounts payable and processing invoices
  • Providing additional back up support and administrative duties as required


Basic Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience in a professional services environment. Previous law firm experience is an asset
  • Strong background and experience in event management
  • Excellent knowledge MS Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Good working knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Knowledge of Lexis Nexis Interaction CRM System an asset
  • A university degree or college diploma in Marketing and Communications
