Successfully defended a school board in a human rights application brought by a former student.
Resolved human rights complaints by employees and parents against school boards.
Successfully defended a pension plan administrator in a series of applications before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario where the applicants claimed that the pension plan’s re-employment provisions discriminated against pensioners on the basis of age.
Successfully defended an advertising company against a human rights complaint alleging discrimination, on the grounds of disability, at hiring. The case was dismissed at an early stage.
Successfully defended an employer at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario with respect to an application claiming discrimination on the basis of race, place of origin, ethnic origin and ancestry.
Successfully defended against human rights-based allegations, including allegations of systemic discrimination, concerning a large national employer’s hiring practices. Successfully had decision upheld on judicial review, at both superior court and appellate court levels (leave to Supreme Court of Canada denied).
Successfully resisted request for substantial production order at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario on behalf of a municipal client.
Successfully argued summary hearing at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario to dismiss application alleging a school board’s failure to accommodate a disabled employee.
