Biography
Bayley Winkel is a pensions, benefits, and compensation lawyer in Hicks Morley’s Toronto office. He maintains a broad practice covering all aspects of pension, benefits, and compensation law.
Bayley has assisted clients in implementing comprehensive plan design changes. He has worked with plan administrators on the review and revision of plan governance materials and provides advice on fiduciary obligations in the pension sector. Bayley has prepared numerous legal opinions and assisted clients in successful regulatory applications for employer entitlement to pension plan surplus. He has advised on pension and benefits aspects in corporate matters, including M&A and credit facility transactions. He has assisted clients in the negotiation and drafting of various service provider agreements, including investment management and custodial arrangements.
Bayley received his Juris Doctor from Queen’s University, where he received the Queen’s Law Prize for attaining the highest grade in Employment Law. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science while competing in Division 1 NCAA athletics. Prior to joining Hicks Morley, Bayley practiced at a boutique pensions, benefits, and executive compensation law firm in Toronto.
