  • Biography

Danika Winkel is a litigator in Hicks Morley’s Toronto office. She represents a broad range of public- and private-sector employers—both small and large—in trials, hearings, motions, applications, judicial reviews and appeals. In addition to that work, Danika provides proactive, day-to-day advice to help employers avoid litigation.

Danika takes a practical approach to litigation and she collaborates with her clients to develop effective legal strategies. She values her clients’ time and is very responsive when dealing with any matter. She is highly organized and committed to delivering the best possible representation and outcome for every case. In Ontario, Danika has appeared before the Small Claims Court, Superior Court of Justice, Divisional Court and Court of Appeal. She has also appeared before Alberta courts.

As a complement to her litigation practice, Danika provides advice and representation in the areas of occupational health and safety, human rights and accommodation, and employment standards.

Danika received her Juris Doctor from Queen’s University, graduating on the Dean’s List. She has a certification in International Public Law and was selected as a panelist at the Queen’s Feminist Legal Studies Conference. Danika also worked at the Queen’s Legal Aid Clinic, representing clients in employment and other contract disputes.

Outside of the office, Danika enjoys staying active on runs and in the gym.
