Summer Student, Western
Biography
Gavin Hughes is a second-year student at the University of Western Ontario’s Faculty of Law. Prior to law school, Gavin earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in History from the University of Guelph.
Gavin has demonstrated a strong interest in advocacy through competitive mooting, including winning the Western Hockey Arbitration Moot and representing Western at the Gale Cup.
During his time at Western, Gavin has served as a Program Manager with the Sport Solution Clinic, where he has gained experience with employment and labour matters in sport-specific contexts, including contract negotiations, safe sport compliance, team selection appeals, and tribunal arbitrations. This work has deepened his understanding of dispute resolution and the importance of client-centered advocacy.
Outside of his studies, Gavin enjoys endurance sports, traveling, and reading historical fiction.
