Successfully defended the dismissal of an employee who had improperly sought disability benefits. The decision to deny the benefits was upheld on appeal.
Successful judicial review on an issue in an interest arbitration between a transit company and its union.
Successfully defended an interlocutory injunction brought against a transit company’s mandatory vaccination policy.
Successfully argued against a motion to compel an employer to produce certain documents, with costs awarded to the employer.
Drafted an anti-racism policy and provided a related presentation to employer’s staff.
Gave presentation to employer’s leadership team on positive employee relations and successfully endured CUPE organizing campaign while providing day-to-day advice to management on a variety of issues.
Guided a community clinic through collective bargaining, providing proposals for bargaining and advice respecting Bill 124 among other issues.
Successfully represented a public health unit on the judicial review (and later motion for leave to appeal) of a Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario’s decision to dismiss an application regarding discrimination on the basis of several protected grounds including race.
Successfully defended a financial institution in an overtime class action brought by investment advisors.
