Njeri Damali Sojourner-Campbell Appointed to the LSO’s Equity Advisory Group

Hicks Morley is pleased to announce that Njeri Damali Sojourner-Campbell has been appointed to the Law Society of Ontario’s Equity Advisory Group.

The Equity Advisory Group provides advice to the Law Society on equity and diversity issues. The group is responsible for identifying, reviewing and reporting on issues affecting diverse communities in the legal profession. Members are committed to equality and diversity principles, and have experience in working with issues affecting (but not limited to) communities of racialized individuals, immigrants and refugees, people with disabilities, people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex, queer, questioning or two-spirited (LGBTIQ2S+), Francophones and women.

Njeri is an associate in Hicks Morley’s Toronto office. She represents employers in complex human rights, labour, employment and education litigation files and she supports employers with their human rights and equity workplace restructuring initiatives. She is a faculty member of the Human Rights Theory & Practice and the Human Rights for Education Professionals certificate programs offered by Osgoode Hall Law School Professional Development.

Njeri is the founder of a mentorship group for Black female and trans law students and junior lawyers and preserves time in her weekly schedule to meet with students and junior lawyers.

She believes in the transformative power of legal professionals and is committed to the creation of a more equitable professional community.
