Overview

Designed for designed for Police Services Boards and administrators, Chiefs and senior command, HR and labour relations professionals, and municipal/employer stakeholders who support police governance and employment decision-making, this session brings together two timely topics that regularly generate questions for Chiefs, Boards, HR and labour relations teams. In the first segment, we’ll work through practical examples of family status accommodation requests and how to run the accommodation process appropriately from intake through documentation. In the second segment, we’ll tackle the most common “who is responsible for what?” questions that arise between Police Services Boards and Chiefs—especially at the governance/operational boundary and in sensitive employment matters such as investigations, discipline and terminations.

Format and Learning Objectives

In this 2-hour webinar, participants will strengthen their ability to (i) run a fair, consistent family status accommodation process and (ii) navigate Board/Chief roles and boundaries, including making sound decisions about oversight and involvement in sensitive workplace matters.

Hicks Morley will endeavour to accommodate guests with a disability in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code guidelines and other applicable legislation.
