Andrew Movrin Quoted in Canadian HR Reporter Article About New Rules Affecting Temporary Help Agencies and Recruiters

Canadian HR Reporter interviewed Hicks Morley’s Andrew Movrin for an article titled, “New recruiting rules take effect in Ontario July 1.”

The Ontario government has been rolling out new licensing requirements for temporary help agencies (THAs) and recruiters. The requirements come into effect on July 1, 2024 and require THAs and recruiters to have a licence in order to operate (or to at least have submitted their application prior to that date). Andrew notes there are penalties and consequences for those who use unlicensed THAs and/or recruiters: “We are advising organizations that they’ll want to build in regular checks on their vendors for such services. That’s likely going to come in the form of an annual check as to whether they are still licensed or a contractual obligation to give notice of non-compliance following any appeal rights that the agency or recruiter has exhausted.”
