Biography
Stephen Warner is a labour and employment lawyer practicing out of Hicks Morley’s Toronto office. He provides advice and representation to employers in both the public and private sectors on a range of labour, employment and human rights issues. This includes grievance arbitrations, employment litigation, collective bargaining, employment standards, and workplace accommodation.
Stephen brings a solutions-oriented approach to his advocacy, honed by several years’ prior experience as a senior advisor and press secretary to the provincial government, and as a government relations consultant. Stephen also uses his unique worldview as a person with a visual impairment to provide thoughtful guidance to employers navigating complex and sensitive legal and human resources issues.
Stephen earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Western Ontario, receiving awards for his academic standing in labour and employment law courses as well as for excellence in legal research and writing in administrative law. Throughout law school, Stephen volunteered with the Elgin–Oxford Legal Clinic, assisting with the representation of individuals in appeals before the Social Benefits Tribunal. Stephen has a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in political science from the University of Toronto.
Outside of work, Stephen is an avid reader of both history and fiction. He is also a regular jogger and enjoys trying his hand at baking desserts, which tend to taste better than they look.
