Overview
Designed for school board trustees, labour relations practitioners, human resources practitioners, supervisory officers and directors of education, this year’s Education Labour Relations and Human Resources Symposium will feature informative keynote speakers, panels and workshops on innovation and transformation in a changing labour relations environment.
In “Lawful Responses to Digital Mischief,” Frank Cesario and Tatiana Lazdins will share the best practical responses to online misconduct, address key considerations around electronic evidence, review how to investigate and gather electronic evidence, and more.
In “Safe Spaces, Inclusive Places,” Lauri Reesor and Sean Reginio will be joined by Jodi Sepkowski, Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board’s Superintendent of Education, to discuss the challenges in accommodating students with complex disability-related needs and the intersection with a school board’s obligation to keep workers safe.
In “Suspensions Pending Investigation,” Julia Nanos and Grant Nuttall will cover the factors that school boards must consider when conducting an investigation while criminal charges or a children’s aid society investigation are pending and the practical strategies to navigate these difficult issues.
In “Managing Attendance and Sick Leave Use,” Dianne Jozefacki and Colleen Nevison will be joined by Gary Girardi, Lambton Kent District School Board’s Superintendent of Education, to provide a review of the underlying legal and contractual considerations that apply when it comes to attendance support and absenteeism.
We’ll also be sponsoring a networking reception for all attendees after the first day of sessions. Learn more about the symposium.
