Ontario Announces Additional Schools to Return to In-Person Learning

On February 3, 2021, the Ontario Minister of Education announced the dates for return to in-person learning for the remaining schools that have not yet opened for in-person learning.
On Monday February 8, elementary and secondary schools located in the following public health units will return to in-person learning:
- Brant County Health Unit
- Chatham-Kent Public Health
- Durham Region Health Department
- Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit
- Halton Region Public Health
- City of Hamilton Public Health Services
- Huron Perth Public Health
- Lambton Public Health
- Niagara Region Public Health
- Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit
- Region of Waterloo Public Health and Emergency Services
- Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health
- Windsor-Essex County Health Unit
For the regions above, school childcare programs may resume on February 6. The last day for emergency childcare is February 5.
On Tuesday February 16, elementary and secondary schools located in the following public health units will return to in-person learning:
- Peel Public Health
- Toronto Public Health
- York Region Public Health
For these regions, school childcare programs may resume on February 16, and the last day for emergency childcare is February 12.
The government is also implementing additional health and safety measures related to in-person learning, which include but are not limited to targeted asymptomatic testing, mandatory masking requirements for students in Grades 1-3, mandatory masking requirements for students in Grades 1-12 who are outdoors and cannot maintain physical distancing, and provision of cloth masks as back-up supplies for schools.
