Stephen Shamie Honoured with the CFL’s Hugh Campbell Distinguished Leadership Award

We are proud to share that Stephen (Steve) Shamie has been recognized by the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Hugh Campbell Distinguished Leadership Award. This prestigious award is presented to someone who has demonstrated great leadership and made significant contributions to the CFL.

With more than 35 years of legal experience behind him, Steve has built a reputation as a trusted advisor and go-to counsel for sport organizations on their labour and employment law matters—acting as chief spokesperson in collective bargaining negotiations, providing expert representation in arbitrations, and sharing practical and effective day-to-day advice.

CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie said, “For nearly two decades, our league has benefitted from the tremendous counsel and in-depth insight of Steve Shamie. He has dutifully served the league, and he has become instrumental in helping to ensure its future success. Steve’s work has never gone unnoticed, nor unappreciated, but many will never know the impact that he has had.”

Hicks Morley’s Managing Partner Craig Rix shared, “Steve is a thoughtful and dedicated leader, through and through, and his commitment to providing his clients with best-in-class service is unparalleled. I’m delighted to see him honoured with this well-deserved recognition.”

Congratulations, Steve!
