Overview

During the OMHRA 2022 Fall Conference and Annual General Meeting, participants will be encouraged to rethink and reimagine their approaches to municipal human resource management. The sessions will explore issues related to how to prepare for the future of municipalities and the future of work.

In “Bargaining with Inside/Outside Workers – Current Trends and Strategies,” Stephanie Jeronimo and Amanda Cohen will review the latest settlements for inside/outside workers in the municipal sector and share recent trends, potential risks and the information you need to know to be prepared for your upcoming round of bargaining. This session will take place on Wednesday, September 14 from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m.

In “Infectious Diseases Projections and Labour Relations Update,” John W. Saunders and Evon J. Gayle will be joined by Dr. Piotr Oglazais, Medical Officer for Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington Public Health, to discuss how the latest infectious disease projections will affect labour relations in the municipal sector. Then Evon and John will review the latest arbitration, human rights, health and safety, workers’ compensation and employment law decisions as they impact municipalities. This session will take place on Thursday, September 15 from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m.
