New Long-Term Care Homes Emergency Order Issued
Date: March 28, 2020
On Friday, March 27, 2020, the Ontario government issued a second Emergency Order to specifically address the Long-Term Care Homes sector (O. Reg 95/20: Streamlining Requirements for Long-Term Care Homes).
The significance of this Emergency Order is clear. It largely eclipses the items in the earlier Emergency Order which the Ontario government issued on Monday, March 23, 2020 and the regulatory amendments that we covered in our FTR Now of March 24. The new Emergency Order is designed to give long-term care homes broad tools to ensure continuing care during the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is incumbent on everyone in the Long-Term Care Homes sector to use this Emergency Order appropriately and effectively. We can assist you in addressing your organization’s approach to utilizing these new tools.
For more information on how this Emergency Order may affect your organization’s response to COVID-19, please feel free to contact John J. Bruce at 416.864.7285, Andrew N. Zabrovsky at 416.864.7536, or your regular Hicks Morley lawyer.
