This webcast responds to a number of requests following our last webcast, After Keewatin: The Use of Exclusions, and reflects the reality that there are increasing numbers of students whose disabilities give rise to violent outbursts and that this phenomenon is a growing challenge for special educators and for administration. We will review the considerations which special educators, teachers and administrators must have regard to when dealing with violent behaviors resulting from the disabilities of students. We will touch on the rights of staff and other students to be safe and on the steps that can be taken for dealing with the student whose behaviours are creating an unsafe environment while respecting the rights of that student.
