Freedom of information (FOI) coordinators responding to access requests need to balance a wide range of issues, from clarifying requests and arranging reasonable searches to preparing fee estimates, all within tight time frames. This program addresses a number of the strategic and practical considerations which go into responding to requests under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA).


This webinar will include:

  • an in-depth presentation accompanied by slides highlighting the key issues which commonly arise in FOI access requests
  • an issue-identification flow chart to assist in analyzing requests

Audience and Learning Objectives

Participants will learn the key considerations to prepare effective and defensible access responses, including the elements of preparing a proper fee estimate or time extension and conducting a reasonable search.

This webinar will include an interactive Q&A feature. A panel discussion will be built into the last 5–10 minutes of the session to address any audience questions that are submitted. Presenters can also provide responses to missed questions after the conclusion of the seminar for interested participants.
