Bill 148 proposes sweeping changes to employment and labour laws in Ontario, creating substantial compliance obligations and potential risks for employers. Amendments to the Bill were passed in August and even more changes may occur when the House returns in September. Most of the Bill’s changes will come into effect on January 1, 2018.

We have been on top of Bill 148 from its inception. You are now familiar with the many of the Bill’s pending changes but what about the nuts and bolts of implementing Bill 148 in your organization?

In this session, we address the “What Should We Do Now to Get Ready?” issues with a fast-paced and practical focus on what you need to know and how you can best prepare for Bill 148.

This two-hour Advantage CPD Plus session will be comprised of panels who will provide a practical how-to guide on implementing Bill 148. We will cover a range of topics including:

  • Equal Pay – including pay equity risks
  • Scheduling
  • Personal Emergency Leave
  • Minimum Wage
  • Vacation & Holiday Pay
  • Temporary Help Agencies
  • Industry-Specific Card-based Certification
  • Changes to make Union Organizing easier
  • Penalty Certification and First Contract Arbitration
  • Bargaining Unit Consolidation

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this seminar, attendees will have a better understanding of Bill 148 and its implications, and will leave with practical takeaways to guide them through the many pending changes on the horizon.
