This session is a review and update for in house legal counsel and human resources professionals on the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (“AODA”) and will focus on:
- Reviewing key requirements of the Integrated Accessibility Standards (“IAS”) – including policy development, training, employment practices, website content and design, general communications
- Reviewing timelines for IAS implementation, with a focus on each category of organization captured by the IAS
- The development of compliance strategies for IAS implementation – opportunities for “piggy-backing” on existing policies and practices, internal and external consultation, development of mechanisms to confirm compliance has been achieved
- The role of in-house counsel in legal compliance initiatives within the context of AODA compliance
