Overview

Now more than ever, electronic technology is essential in the workplace. But what does this mean for employers when conducting workplace investigations? How does the use of technology change the legal requirements employers need to follow, and how can using such technology benefit an investigation process?

In this workshop, we will discuss the various technologies employers can utilize within the workplace (including GPS, computer monitoring, video surveillance, biometrics, etc.) and what legal implications come from the use of such technologies. We will review privacy and other compliance requirements to consider, and we will discuss how technology can benefit your investigation.

Format

We will consider the following issues:

  • the electronic technologies currently available and which legal requirements employers should be aware of before utilizing such technologies
  • what electronic monitoring means for the current workplace
  • how to use electronic technologies to conduct an investigation (and the pros and cons).

Learning Objectives

By the end of this program, attendees will be able to identify the various electronic technologies currently available and understand the legal requirements behind using technologies including GPS, computer monitoring, video surveillance, facial recognition and other biometrics. Attendees will also learn about electronic monitoring and how to use technology, such as investigation software, to conduct an investigation.

This webinar will include an interactive Q&A feature. A panel discussion will be built into the last 10 minutes of the session to address audience questions that were submitted.
