Overview

Most HR professionals in the healthcare sector will be involved with collective bargaining and interest arbitration throughout their careers. This session will provide you with an understanding of the unique structures in Ontario’s healthcare sector and what you need to do to be prepared for your next round of bargaining. It will also walk through some of the common language and issues unique to the sector.

Format

Topics include:

  • healthcare HR 101
  • collective bargaining structures
  • the role of the Ontario Hospital Association
  • interest arbitration: breaking down the brief
  • interest arbitration hearings: the basics
  • from hire to retire: labour relations issues unique to the sector
