We Welcome Cemeka Douglas, Manager, Student Programs to Hicks Morley
Hicks Morley is pleased to announce that Cemeka Douglas has joined the firm as the manager of our student programs. Based in our Toronto office, Cemeka is responsible for managing the firm’s student recruitment processes and for supporting the development, mentorship and overall experience of the firm’s summer and articling students.
In 2018, Cemeka graduated from Thompson Rivers University with a Juris Doctor. Prior to joining Hicks Morley, Cemeka practised insurance litigation both in private practice and in-house at a large Canadian financial institution where she was involved in screening applications, conducting interviews, and providing mentorship to law students as part of the Articling Recruitment Committee. She was also an active member of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee.
Cemeka’s passion lies in working with students as they begin their legal careers. She was engaged in mentorship opportunities throughout law school and acted as a peer mentor to other students. As the current Director of Mentorship at the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers, Cemeka brings significant mentorship program design and career fair experience to our firm.
Hicks Morley is committed to providing students with hands-on opportunities to learn about all aspects of human resources law and we see our legal students as integral parts of the firm. Cemeka’s addition to our team ensures all of our summer and articling students will receive support in their growth and development while they gain incomparable legal and educational experience.
We wish Cemeka a warm welcome!
