The Opportunity

As a member of our Finance team, the Financial Analyst  is responsible for updating, maintaining and analyzing financial information with the goal of supporting the firm’s ability to make sound financial predictions and decisions.

The ideal candidate will be a team player who is technically savvy with high attention to detail. The candidate will have a demonstrated interest in financial analysis.

Essential Duties

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Update monthly financial package for reporting to stakeholders; including commentary on financial performance for the period
  • Spearhead preparation of annual management reports for partners’ compensation
  • Maintain financial reporting datasets, creating new queries (using SQL) where necessary
  • Build, monitor, and report on client budgets and fee arrangements, including on-demand variance analysis of budget-to-actual amounts
  • Support fixed pricing initiatives by analyzing historical data and file staffing structures, and provide recommendations on pricing revisions
  • Assist with the preparation of the firm’s annual operating budget, including GL categorization and variance analysis
  • In collaboration with Accounting Manager, perform year-end duties including liaising with the firm’s external auditors
  • Engage in the implementation of new processes and initiatives, including testing and data validation
  • Monitor the financial and management reporting systems and procedures for identification of process improvements
  • Ad-hoc analysis and reporting as required

Other

  • Support and provide backup to Finance efforts as required.
  • Learn and use available technology to enhance work product including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Acumin, Aderant Expert and Adobe.
  • Maintain and update job skills and knowledge by participating in development opportunities within the firm.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA is preferred.
  • More than 3 years of experience in advanced financial analysis, planning and/or budgeting required.
  • Exceptional ability to work with financial reporting and visualization tools, particularly Power BI.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Excel; experience with SQL and MS Access an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team .
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality when interacting with internal and external clients.
