There are procedural requirements and processes required by the Human Rights Code which employers need to know when dealing with human rights complaints and requests for accommodation. The Program will provide a review of your legal obligations as an employer. There are a number of areas covered by the Code, but some of the more common accommodation / discrimination issues in employment relate to • employees with disabilities (disability) • older workers (age) • employees with caregiving responsibilities (family status) In addition, there are an increasing number of human rights complaints and allegations of discrimination related to sexual and gender based harassment and accommodation. Topics will focus on the above areas of the Code and will examine employer obligations and checklists for both large and small scale employers.
