  1. Safety
  2. Effectiveness
  3. Patient-centredness
  4. Efficiency
  5. Timeliness
  6. Equity
  7. Workplace violence prevention.

Under O. Reg. 187/15, healthcare organizations must engage patients and former patients of the organization and their caregivers in developing its AQIP. The publicly available version of the AQIP must contain:

  • a description of the patient engagement activities of the healthcare organization
  • a description of how these activities inform the development of the healthcare organization’s quality improvement plan.
