Overview

The occurrence of inappropriate conduct in the workplace can have a detrimental effect on the workplace as a whole and can lead to serious implications for municipalities and their human resources professionals.

In “Investigating Harassment Claims,” Stephanie Jeronimo and Kenji Nuhn will explore the key steps in an investigation—from when a municipality first learns about inappropriate conduct to before, during and after an investigation—and discuss best practices to engage in an effective investigation.

Harassment complaints can be litigated in a number of forums, each of which poses its own unique challenges. In “Litigating Harassment Claims,” Michael Kennedy and Kathryn Meehan walk through various avenues for complaints—including the Ministry of Labour, Ontario Labour Relations Board and Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario—and explore best practices and common pitfalls to avoid when preparing for a legal challenge.
